Graveside services for James P. "Jim" Payne, 86 of Weaver will be Friday, August 11, 2017 at 11:00 at Alexandria United Methodist Cemetery with Rev. B.J. Jackson officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday, August 10, 2017 from 6-8 at Gray Brown Service Mortuary. Mr. Payne passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at his residence.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years Jackie Goode Payne, daughter Patti Mayne (Dennis), son John Payne (Stephanie), brother Clif Payne (Melanie), sister-in-law Elna Goode Hall, grandchildren Scott Mayne, Kelly Mayne, DeAnna Hicks (Stephen), Katie Payne, Lacey Payne, Kenny Rochester, great grandchildren Garison Mayne, Pat Mayne, Annabelle Mayne, Evan Lee Mayne, Alee Isbell, nephew Joshua Payne D.D.S., and his loving pet Rusty.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents Howard and Mollie Payne and Nephew Matthew A. Payne.
Jim was a lifelong resident of Calhoun County where he grew up in Weaver, graduated Anniston High School in 1949. He served four years in USNC on LST 561. He graduated JSU in 1957 and was the owner of Payne Oil Co. a wholesale distributor for Citgo Oil Co. He worked 17 years for Beshears Tractor, retired and enjoyed working 5 years with his son John@ J&J electric.
